Hostel and Mess Committee

The Hostel & Mess Committee is a student-led governance body responsible for ensuring operational excellence in residential and dining services at IIM Amritsar. Serving over 700 residential students and delivering multi-meal dining services daily across multiple hostels, it functions as an integrated interface between the student community, institutional administration, and external service providers.

The committee’s mandate spans vendor management, menu planning and auditing, budget monitoring, hygiene inspections, infrastructure grievance redressal, and policy implementation. It operates through structured feedback systems and periodic surveys, supported by regular audits and vendor performance evaluations to ensure consistency, quality, and cost efficiency across all service functions.

Coordinating with the Students' Affairs Office, the Warden's Office, the Estate Department, and multiple vendors, the committee follows well-defined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), conducts periodic review meetings, and facilitates open forums to ensure transparency and accountability.

By resolving over 100 grievances monthly, the committee ensures timely, structured responses to food quality issues, infrastructure failures, and service disruptions, thereby enhancing service reliability, responsiveness, and the overall residential experience.
